John Minnock: The Music of David Shire

Join acclaimed vocalist John Minnock, along with NEA Jazz Master Dave Liebman, as they celebrate the release of John’s recent album on Dot Time Records, dedicated to the music of industry legend David Shire. The evening includes songs from Shire’s early years with Barbra Streisand and songs from his renowned stage productions and association with Richard Maltby Jr. including Starting Here, Starting Now and Closer Than Ever. The evening will include interesting jazz reimaginings of Shire’s well known and renowned works. In albums over the last few years, Minnock has had an association with Mr. Shire, and this has finally come to fruition on his latest album.

Minnock is the recipient of the 2019 HotHouse/Jazzmobile NYC Readers Best Male Vocalist award.

Perfect in every way, this song from the Herring Cove album belongs in every John Minnock show, on every John Minnock playlist, and just on every playlist anyone creates to listen to while entertaining or just relaxing at home when work is through. This song, alone, is worth purchasing a copy of the CD or a ticket to a John Minnock show – if it isn’t destined to become a classic, it should be.
