Pipe this, jasper! Feinstein’s/54 Below is hosting a special performance of Samantha Spade, Ace Detective, a film-noir-detective-story-musical (in black and white)! With music by Georgia Stitt (Big Red Sun, Snow Child, The Danger Year) and book and lyrics by Lisa Diana Shapiro (Princess Phooey, Labor Pains), this hard-boiled new one-act musical tells the story of a misfit teen who escapes reality by entering a film noir fantasy world where she is Samantha Spade, Ace Detective, the go-to gumshoe who always solves the case—for $25 a day, plus Twizzlers. A cast of Broadway regulars (to be announced!) portray the dames, palookas, grifters, chiselers, flatfoots and flim-flammers that populate this black and white world, leading Samantha to solve the case and find her own voice at last.
