Jen Coogan began as a performer, but started writing musicals in her desire to create more roles for women. Most recently she was the composer for the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival’s productions of The Tempest and As You Like It. She has received commissions from Broadway Bares San Francisco, and was recently featured in BroadwayWorld for her work on Lizzie Wilding- Heavy Metal Werewolf. She has made recent appearances at Feinstein’s at the Nikko and Myron’s Las Vegas.

Her short musical The Morning After My Family Fell Apart, was produced by Left Coast Theatre Company in San Francisco. She is also developing The New Teacher with Superbad Theatre Company, The Last Open Mic with WildHorse Stage Co.’s Musical Development Initiative, as well as Pharma Girls and The Oregon Trail Pages. She is the creator of The Women in Theatre Project– featuring songs based on her personal interviews from some of the most influential women in theatre.
