Daniel Glass
With a musical career spanning more than 30 years, Daniel Glass has established an impeccable resume as an award-winning drummer, author, historian and educator. He first came to prominence in 1994 as a member of Royal Crown Revue, the pioneering swing group whose appearances in the Jim Carrey blockbuster The Mask (1994) and Jon Favreau’s Swingers (1996) kicked off a worldwide resurgence of swing. Daniel’s twenty-year run with RCR included 10 albums, countless world tours and collaborations with everyone from James Brown to the B52s.
As a sideman, Daniel has recorded and performed with a wildly diverse group of top artists that includes Bette Midler, Brian Setzer, Jose Feliciano, Marilyn Maye, Linda Lavin, Freddie Cole, Gunhild Carling, Max Von Essen, Laura Benanti, Michelle Shocked, Air Supply’s Graham Russell, Luann De Lesseps from the “Real Housewives of New York,” and KISS front man Gene Simmons. Since 2011, he’s been the house drummer every Monday night at the world-famous Birdland Jazz Club in New York City.
In addition to his performance credits, Daniel is also a highly respected educator, widely recognized as an authority on classic American drumming and the evolution of American Popular Music. Daniel has published five books and three DVDs, is a regular contributor to publications like Modern Drummer, and has performed hundreds of clinics and master classes around the globe. Since 2016, Daniel has hosted an annual 4-day Jazz Intensive in New York City, which draws an international student base.
