Jarvis Antonio Green (he/him/his) is the Founding Artistic Director of JAG Productions, an audacious Vermont and NYC-based Black theater company established in 2016. Recognized with the New England Theatre Conference Regional Award for Outstanding Achievement in the American Theatre, Green has been instrumental in showcasing and nurturing Black voices in the not-for-profit theater landscape. Through his leadership, JAG Productions has emerged as one of the nation’s leading incubators of new works by Black playwrights, annually producing five new plays at JAGfest.

In 2019, Green produced the World Premiere of Nathan Yungerberg’s Esai’s Table, achieving acclaim with its subsequent Off-Broadway run at the Cherry Lane Theatre, which was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following a 17-month hiatus during the pandemic, JAG Productions made a triumphant return to live theater in 2021 with the Theatre on the Hill outdoor summer series, set against the scenic backdrop of the King Arthur Baking Company’s lawn. In recent seasons, he brought Tony Award-winning artist Britton Smith of Britton and the Sting, NYC’s funk and liberation band, directed the first-ever concert version of an all-Black production of Next to Normal starring Soara-Joye Ross, Akron Watson, Nick Rashad Burroughs, and Darron Hayes, and produced the first-ever all-Black burlesque revue called Life in Sepia starring Maine The Attraction.

Green’s impact as a Black queer leader was celebrated in Native Son, highlighting his significant contributions in 2020. His visionary efforts led to the creation of the JAG Methodology in 2023, a comprehensive initiative encompassing a Black Theatre methodology, and a documentary film exploring its genesis. With a dynamic presence both on and off-stage, he has directed, performed, and produced across the United States.

Recently was featured as The Inclusive Storyteller in Deloitte’s Documentary Series “The Resilient.” Green was one of only six millennials chosen globally, and the only one from North America.

He serves as a National Theatre Project Advisor for the New England Foundation for the Arts and is a founding member of the Black Theatre Artist Council at the Roundabout Theatre Company. His company, JAG Productions, is in residence at New York Theatre Workshop.
