A Nonprofit Cabaret Venue

John Lind’s musical exposure began at a very early age. Born in San Antonio, Texas to a choir director and a music teacher, John’s first musical experiences were singing in the church choir and studying the piano at age 5. At age 11, John began to study both the guitar and the double bass privately with respected members of San Antonio’s music scene and symphony orchestra.

After participating in school and private orchestras from the ages of 11-18, as well as regularly performing as both a guitarist and a double bassist, John went on to study Classical Guitar Performance at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX. Under the tutelage of Dr. David Asbury and Dr. Steve Kostelnik, John developed his ability as a classical guitarist while simultaneously playing the Double Bass in the university’s orchestra and jazz band. It is there where John fell in love with Jazz music under the guidance of Dr. David Guidi, with whom he shared the bandstand as a bassist in notable venues around Austin, TX.

Since finishing undergrad in 2014, John has been a sought-after bass player in San Antonio, Austin, Madrid (ES), and ultimately New York City as of 2019. In addition to his pedagogical background as a bassist, guitarist, pianist, and singer, John is a fluent speaker of Spanish and Portuguese in addition to his native English, an avid nature lover and basketball.
