Martina Barta
Renowned Czech-German jazz vocalist, songwriter, and bandleader, Martina Barta is celebrated for her expressive voice, deep musicality, and commanding stage presence. Classically trained on multiple instruments, she is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music (Jazz Arts, mentored by Buster Williams and Theo Bleckmann) and the Jazz Institute Berlin (studying with Judy Niemack and David Friedman). Barta has performed at major international venues including Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Berlin Philharmonie, and Konzerthaus Berlin, and collaborated with orchestras such as the Berlin Symphony Orchestra and the Big Band of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. In 2017, she represented the Czech Republic at the Eurovision Song Contest. Her recent duo album with David Friedman, “You Taught My Heart to Sing”, has received critical acclaim for its intimacy, sophistication, and emotional depth.
