Ruobing (Ru) Zhang is a pianist, vocalist, educator, and musical theater director. Ru is a graduate of The Juilliard School, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Piano in 2020 and Master’s degree in Collaborative Piano in 2022. He is currently pursuing his doctorate at the University of North Texas.

Ru has been musical director of productions including In the Heights (2018), Rent (2019), Mamma Mia! (2021), and Once on This Island (2022) in New York City, working with City College Academy of the Arts and The Bronx Science and Technology Academy. He has also performed at Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, 54 Below, and the Times Square Ball Drop, and recorded a classical piano album with China Record Corporation.

As an educator, Ru teaches piano and voice and served as visiting faculty at The Juilliard School, where he taught dancers in musical theater from 2022-2026. He is also a licensed teacher of Badiene Magaziner’s studio, working with students in piano, voice, and musical theater.
