54 Sings The Last Sweet Days of Isaac
January 29, 2027
Nearly sixty years ago, Gretchen Cryer and Nancy Ford premiered their sensational off-Broadway rock musical The Last Sweet Days of Isaac. Described by noted critic Walter Kerr as his “favorite rock musical,” the musical quickly amassed Obies, Drama Desks, and Outer Critic’s Circle Awards, and ran over a year at the Eastside Playhouse. In the decades since, however, the musical has not made its return to the New York City stage… until now. Following themes of identity and technology, the reaction of the youth to unpopular wars, and mass surveillance, Isaac remains startlingly prescient to a contemporary audience, all delivered through one of the greatest rock scores ever written for the stage.
The evening will be produced by Bex Silberfein and Avery L. Ingvarson, with direction by Ingvarson.
THE LAST SWEET DAYS OF ISAAC is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals. www.concordtheatricals.com.
