Aaron Blake
November 24, 2019
Worldwide opera star Aaron Blake will return to Feinstein’s/54 Below with an exciting new cabaret show. The show will combine the best of the Broadway and American Songbooks and comes right in the middle of his string of performances in the Metropolitan Opera’s new production of Aaron Glass’ Akhnaten, in which he plays the starring role of the High Priest of Amon. His Feinstein’s/54 Below appearance comes the day after he will be heard in a live international broadcast of the Met opera on Sirius XM.
Aaron will be joined at his performance by his Akhnaten castmates J’nai Bridges and Dísella Lárusdóttir. J’Nai Bridges, known for her “plush-voiced mezzo-soprano” (The New York Times), has been heralded as “a rising star” (Los Angeles Times), gracing the world’s top stages. Described by The New York Times as “reliably breathtaking” and Opera News as having a voice of “bewitching beauty and presence,” Icelandic soprano Dísella Lárusdóttir is quickly gaining international attention for being one of the most promising talents of her generation.
This past year, Blake received acclaim for his performance in the N.Y. premiere of Gregory Spears’ Fellow Travelers and for his debut with the N.Y. City Opera in Peter Eolvos’ Angels in America. He also sang opposite Placido Domingo in La Traviata at the Met, starred as “Candide” with the Atlanta Symphony, and was part of the Met’s Summer Recital Series at Brooklyn Bridge Park. This coming season, he will make his debuts with the Israeli National Opera and the Montreal Opera. The New York Times praised Blake for his “youthful fervor and endearing, sweet sound.” This is sure to be a night you won’t want to miss!
