Cable Car Nymphomaniac in Concert
July 10, 2016
The Cable Car Nymphomaniac is a new musical by Tony Asaro (music/lyrics) and Kirsten Guenther (book) that recently played a sold out enagement at San Francisco’s FOGG Theatre. Join us for its east coast debut, in concert at Feinstein’s/54 Below!
In 1970, Gloria Sykes brought a suit against the San Francisco Municipal Railway for a 1964 cable car collision, which she claimed triggered her insatiable desire for sex. Meanwhile, Bryce, the wife of Gloria’s lawyer, has no idea that Gloria’s story will have such a dramatic effect on her own desires as well. The Cable Car Nymphomaniac is a racy and uproarious new musical ripped from San Francisco headlines by composer/lyricist Tony Asaro, and book writer Kirsten Guenther. Set against the backdrop of the sexual revolution, it explores the story of how one woman’s compliance inspires another woman’s defiance, and asks: “what happens when women want the kind of things women aren’t supposed to want?”
