Charlene and her Champagne Bruts: A Tribute to Julie London
May 27, 2027
Charlene and her Champagne Bruts make their 54 Below debut with A Tribute to Julie London. World renowned jazz and American Songbook Standards vocalist, Julie London, introduced the classic woman’s revenge song, “Cry Me a River,” into the hearts of music lovers and lexicon of music history. Her live performances in New York in the 1950s and 1960s are remembered both for their intimacy and rarity, as London avoided the public spotlight. Upright bass and vocals duo, Charlene and her Champagne Bruts, present the songs of Julie London with the honest, bare, sultry, intimate essence of London’s approach to music.
Charlene Hansen, raised on Broadway and Hollywood musicals, has been immersed in a lifelong study of and passion for both music and theatrical dance, leading to her successful run with Charlene and Her Champagne Bruts, a duo with her life partner, bassist Marty Main. Together, they have been performing on the West Coast, headlining at The Jazz Station, performing at iconic historical music venues in Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington, and performing at multiple music festivals. Marty Main has played on twelve albums, played at the Montreux Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, and the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, as well as jazz clubs and festivals up and down the West Coast.
