Doris Dear, the “other” inner Housewife of Ray DeForest, has been featured in movies (Men in Black 3, The Normal Heart) and TV shows (The Carrie Diaries) and heard round the world. Now you can come along on Doris Dear’s funny and poignant journey to becoming “America’s Perfect Housewife” live at Feinstein’s/54 Below!

Expect rousing numbers from Broadway and the radio of the 1950s and 1960s… as well as original stories of growing up with Doris’ parents, Taffy & Duke, in the suburbs of Staten Island. Funny, poignant, and full of advice, Doris Dear will make you laugh and cry. Ever wonder what your favorite Hollywood stars think about women? Wonder what it takes to find and keep that perfect husband? Need those hints on how to throw the perfect party? Doris has all the answers. Growing up in the suburbs and becoming the Perfect American Housewife has always been her dream, but dreams don’t always work out the way we plan… or do they?

The show was written by Dramatist Guild member and SAG/AFTRA National Board Member Ray DeForest, directed by the award-winning director Lina Koutrakos and musical directed by the award-winning Rick Jensen.
