A Nonprofit Cabaret Venue

Pegged as one of 2016’s “Top Ten Shows to See in NYC” by Time Out New York, Father Forgive Me For I Have Sinned is an autobiographical, coming-of-age story about a Latino boy who grows up in the South Bronx in New York City during the 1980’s and 1990’s.

In a moving, award-winning performance, José Roldan, Jr. straddles the inner struggles of being a gay man while also defying negative cultural stereotypes about his sexual identity. He channels some of his most memorable family members that cover the gamut from his sister, a freestyle drama queen from the Bronx, to his Bruja Tia (Auntie Witchie-pooh) who has mastered the art of how to keep a man. The cast of characters also includes his quintessentially macho father as well as his off-the-wall, fire-spitting Puerto Rican mother. José gives you his NYC Latino version of All in the Family sprinkled with South Bronx soul and riotous clashes set in a family living room. Ultimately and inspiringly so, there’s self-acceptance.

Having performed Father Forgive Me For I Have Sinned on two tours and at over ten venues across the United States, José now brings this 2012 United Solo “Most Talked About Show in Social Media”to Feinstein’s/54 Below.
