Born in New England, raised in North Carolina, Kate shares her musical heritage with brothers James, Livingston, Hugh, and late brother Alex. Her style reflects the soul, gospel and rockabilly sounds of the south combined with the literate folk and pop that comprise the balance of her family’s shared musical legacy.
After signing her first recording contract with Atlantic/Cotillion under the tutelage of her manager, legendary producer Peter Asher, she went on to record with her producer/brother James Taylor and acclaimed Muscle Shoals producer Barry Beckett. Her recent releases have garnered praise–Rolling Stone called Beautiful Road (3 stars) “a heartfelt folk rock gem.”
