Kristen Lee Sergeant: Intoxication
May 19, 2027
Singer, songwriter, and sommelier Kristen Lee Sergeant leads an evening inside the altered states of desire, memory, and wine. Celebrating her new album Intoxication (Sunnyside, 2027) produced by Michael Leonhart of Steely Dan, she brings her original songs, and a few unexpected covers, to the 54 Below stage. All About Jazz calls her work “worthy of a stage musical;” DownBeat praises her “gorgeous legit vocals” and “strong sense of story.” Backed by an all-star band drawn from New York’s finest players, it’s a night of song, story, and a little philosophy — theatrical, intimate, and just a little dangerous.
This album-release evening features a band of New York’s finest players — including three musicians currently appearing in Broadway pit orchestras: Jared Schonig (drums, Just In Time), Kevin Ramessar (guitar, Two Strangers [Carry a Cake Across New York]), and Chelton Grey (bass, MJ the Musical) — alongside acclaimed jazz artists Jeb Patton and Sebastian Noelle. The evening’s special guest is two-time Grammy winner Ted Nash of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.
