Vintage Pop Soul with Saycon Sengbloh

Known for her captivating performances and her killer voice, Broadway darling Saycon Sengbloh makes her 54 Below debut!

While starring in the high-energy Broadway musical Holler If Ya Hear Me, Sengbloh enthused The New York Times to say that her performance “shimmers,” that she is “strong-voiced” and “vibrant.”  She most recently was showcased in Tony Award-nominated Motown the Musical and originated the role of Sandra Iszadore in the hottest and only Afro-beat award winning musical Fela! on Broadway.  Sengbloh has the distinction of being the first woman of African descent to perform the role of Elphaba in the musical Wicked.

Revealing a fountain of versatility and intense talent, Sengbloh’s affectionate voice conveys a sense of passion, heartbreak, and love. She will take audiences through a journey of today and yesterday’s popular classics, tunes from her stage career, and music from her very own collection.  Join Sengbloh for a magical, intimate evening as she stirs the sounds reminiscent of the legendary Tina Turner mixed with psychedelic soul, R&B and funk of a Janelle Monae sprinkled with the smoothness of Sade.

Inspired by sensual eclectic performance of pop, soul, and R&B music, Senbloh continues to record and release amazing music, including the ballad “Be Here” and the previously released Southern Pin-Up EP and Southern Pin-Up: Special Edition that featured original music and covers of her favorites artists. Her song, “Possible” appeared on the soundtracks of the feature film Single Hills, and the web series Mommy Uncensored.  Her modern rendition of “It Was a Very Good Year” has become a fan favorite during Saycon’s live show.  Miss Sengbloh also makes notable appearances on the Grammy-nominated soundtracks for Motown the MusicalFela!, and the Broadway revival of Hair.

The image features the logo of "54 Below," a renowned cabaret and dining club. The logo uses an elegant serif font with the number "54" prominently displayed and the word "BELOW" situated underneath. The text is gold on a dark brown background with a gold border surrounding the design.
