Schuyler Iona Press: The Maker & The Muse
March 7, 2027
In her first two packed shows at 54 Below, Schuyler Iona Press played herself in a show about growing up as a wannabe Irish step dancer. The songs were all composed by Schuyler. And the reactions at both shows were electric! She is clearly an original, exciting new voice in musical theater — as both a composer and an endearingly charming performer. And now this…
Instead of playing herself in her new show on Sunday, March 7th at 7pm at 54 Below, she will play a disillusioned young writer in contemporary New York who, in a twist of magical fate, is transported to the summer of 1967 and finds herself living the life of the legendary Patti Smith at the very moment she first arrives in New York: young, unknown, wildly hopeful, and dreaming of becoming an artist.
Schuyler will be joined by another hand-picked actor playing the equally legendary artist Robert Mapplethorpe, with whom Patti Smith was famously involved. Great story! And for those of you who saw Schuyler’s last two shows, this new musical will be a revelation! If you loved her before, wait till you hear these new songs she wrote: they are sensational!
The Maker & The Muse: In Concert will be executive produced by New York City’s legendary impresario, Scott Siegel, who produced Schuyler’s first two shows at 54 Below. Siegel has created more than 600 major concert events all over the world, including producing, directing, and writing shows for Mr. Michael Feinstein.
Siegel supported the early careers of 2x Tony Award® winner Shaina Taub (Suffs), Tony Award® winner Ali Stroker (2019 Oklahoma! revival), movie star Anthony Ramos (In The Heights), Stella Katherine Cole (jazz singer with more than 2 million followers), Olivier Award nominee Kyle Scatliffe (The Scottsboro Boys), and scores of other stars. And Schuyler Iona Press is next!
