What begins as a psychedelic journey unexpectedly becomes a deeply human one.
When Broadway actor Stacie Bono (Parade, Avenue Q, Sweeney Todd) sets out on a mushroom trip hoping for insight, she instead finds herself shedding her ego (which, to be fair, is no small feat for an actor), traveling through surreal worlds, meeting God, becoming God, and possibly transforming into a fire-breathing dragon. Somewhere along the way, she discovers that the greatest escape isn’t from reality, but back to herself.
Through an eclectic evening of storytelling, comedy, and music (ranging from P!nk to Sondheim to Raye), The Great Escape explores what it means to embrace every part of our humanity with wonder, compassion, and joy. Equal parts hilarious, vulnerable, and heartfelt, this 70 minute journey invites audiences to laugh, reflect, and leave with a little more love for themselves and for one another.
