Night of Jazz returns to 54 Below for an unforgettable evening of world class music featuring The King’s Academy Jazz Ensemble. Hailing from West Palm Beach, Florida, this nationally acclaimed 21-piece big band has earned recognition for its dynamic performances, exceptional musicianship, and commitment to creating transformative opportunities for young artists. Built around the program’s motto, “Unmatched Experiences,” the jazz ensemble is known for providing students extraordinary opportunities to perform, collaborate, and grow through the power of music.
Under the direction of five-time Teacher of the Year Wes Lowe and 2020 Grammy Music Educator Award recipient Mickey Smith, Jr., the jazz ensemble has become one of the most innovative high school jazz programs in the country. Their students have performed at the White House, collaborated with renowned artists, commissioned new works for jazz ensemble, and appeared on some of the nation’s most distinguished stages, all while developing their own distinct musical voices through jazz.
