Through Twyla’s story, we meet the imperfect Abalafia family: Nona, the fierce 85-year old matriarch who’s ready to retire, Cesar, the deeply flawed father, and Christina, the fast-talking hostess. There’s also the imposter French Chef, the Bartender – Steve, the eldest daughter and drama queen – Miranda, and Theo – Twyla’s childhood crush, who round out the ensemble. Flashing between the present-day restaurant and Nona’s past as a single mother on the courageous journey of starting a new business, this story is about family legacy and the love that binds us to those who came before us. Can this imperfect yet lovable family preserve Nona’s legacy? And can love (and food) truly conquer all?
