From his signature pop standards such as “Mambo Italiano” and “People” to his award-winning Broadway musicals Carnival and Funny Girl, Bob Merrill constructed a distinguished catalogue of timeless musical treasures: vivacious, chic, and frequently outrageous. Unsung Bob Merrill highlights the Tony-nominated icon’s little-known works including rare musical material from the infamous Breakfast at Tiffany’s, cut songs from New Girl in Town and Carnival, and several of his sensational 1950s novelty songs written for such artists as Rosemary Clooney, Doris Day, and Frank Sinatra. UnsungMusicalsCo. produces the intimate evening celebrating this singular artist and featuring rare audio clips of the songwriter himself.
Three-time Tony Award nominee Marc Kudisch (9 to 5, Assassins, Millie) hosts Unsung Bob Merrill with additional performances by Anastasia Barzee (Jekyll & Hyde, White Christmas), Drama Desk nominee John Bolton (A Christmas Story, Spamalot), Erin Davie (Side Show, A Little Night Music, Grey Gardens), Bradley Dean (The Last Ship, A Little Night Music), Rebecca Faulkenberry (Rock of Ages, Spider-Man), Nick Gaswirth (A Christmas Story), Drama Desk nominee Karen Mason (Mamma Mia!, Hairspray), and Drama Desk nominee Christine Pedi (Chicago, Forbidden Broadway), and with a special premiere audio recording by Tony Award nominee Liz Larsen (Beautiful, Hairspray).
