Andrew Abrams
Andrew Abrams has worked Off-Broadway, Off West-End, Regionally and on tour as a professional composer, musical director/conductor, and Equity performer. Off-Broadway: Between the Lines (York Theater), Pirates of Penzance (New York Gilbert Sullivan Players). Tours: Cinderella (with Eartha Kitt and Deborah Gibson), Fiddler on the Roof (Theadore Bikel), State Fair (with John Davidson) and Kiss of the Spider Woman. Andrew is a graduate of the Advanced Year of the BMI Musical Theatre Writing Workshop in NYC. He wrote the music for But I’m a Cheerleader, the Musical which had a London reading with Jerry Mitchell and Hannah Waddingham in 2013, and its world-premiere at the Turbine Theatre in London in 2022 where it won the WhatsOnStage Award for Best Off-West End Musical that year. Andrew is also the Artistic Director of Capital City Theatre, a LORT D regional theatre in Madison, WI where he premiered his show Shining in Misery: a King-Size Parody (also performing at 54 Below in 2024), and a new It’s a Wonderful Life musical this past November. Andrew has also served as a professor of voice and musical theater at NYU, Pace University, NY Film Academy, AMDA and Mountview Academy (in London).
