Sama: An American Requiem
October 13, 2016
Join us at Feinstein’s 54 below for a joyous evening featuring a concert-reading of ASCAP award-winner TJ Armand’s sizzling new musical Sama: An American Requiem.
Lead producer Carl Paiva and LLCP Casting are happy to announce that Tony Award nominee and Outer-Circle Critics Award recipient Lorraine Serabian (Zorba), along with Diana DiMarzio (Sweeney Todd), Rick Faugno (Jersey Boys) Sharone Sayegh (Mamma Mia!), and Harriett D. Foy (Amazing Grace) will be joining the cast for the musical’s New York City concert-reading debut. The show will also introduce Marlain Angelides (A Midsummer Night’s Dream-Off Broadway) and Gilbert D. Sanchez (Showgirls-Off Broadway).
Set during the Occupy Wall Street protests in 2011, this comedy drama focuses on a fictional pop star – the son of a Christian Lebanese family living in Massachusetts. Tariq becomes a household name in America under false pretenses and must choose between his allegiance to his family and maintaining his facade after the death of his gay twin Sama.
Sama: An American Requiem has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Bermuda’s The Royal Gazette and was awarded a developmental residency (their first for a musical) by Williamsburg’s National Sawdust earlier this year. Previous industry readings have featured many Broadway stars including Javier Munoz (Hamilton) and Olga Merediz (In The Heights).
