EMMA ASHFORD (she/her) is a songwriter, playwright, and performer who loves to tell uniquely American stories with her pen and piano. A 2024-25 Dramatists Guild Writing Fellow, Emma’s new musical MISS AMERICA (formerly titled HEARTBEATS, O’Neill NMTC Semi-Finalist, Goodspeed JMF Writer’s Grove Residency 2025) had its first industry reading recently featuring Alli Mauzey & more. Additionally, Emma’s play THE LIGHT PLACE was named a 2025 Bay Area Playwrights Festival Semi-Finalist. Her songs from the movie-musical 1660 VINE (directed by NYTW’s Patricia McGregor, now streaming on Amazon Prime) have been recognized at IndieFEST, The Vegas Movie Awards, and The Indie Filmmaker Awards (1660 VINE is available for licensing with MTI). A graduate of the University of Michigan’s BFA Musical Theatre program with a minor in Musical Theatre Composition, Emma’s works have been performed all over NYC, in venues such as The Musical Theatre Factory & Second City. Emma is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild, ASCAP, AEA, and SAG-AFTRA.
